Excerpt:

Noticing Jenna and Marc at one of the tables, she started walking over to them, smiling at the friends she saw along the way. With each step her black velvet confectioned dress moved with her every step; the bodice shimmered and winked like the night sky and drew many admiring glances from the men in the audience as with each step a peek of her legs were bared to their eyes.

Smiling, she gave Jenna a hug and a nod to Marc. She took her seat just as the lights flickered announcing the auction would begin within minutes. Looking at her program, her heart jumped into her throat as she noticed Bachelor number 4’s name, Jean-Claude Lefever with Jeb the Boxer. It can’t be him. How would I know it is my dream man? Why does this name in particular draw me?

Raven traced her finger across his inked name; she trembled inside with a need coursing through her veins like hot molten lava. Her juices wet her panties. She kept shifting as the auction got under way. How can it be him? I don’t even know the man yet he haunts my every thought.

Not sure what to do, her nerves on edge, Raven jerked in anticipation as they announced the start of the auction.

Jenna leaned over and poked her in the shoulder “Girlfriend, why are you so antsy? Who are you going to bid on? How about bachelor number 4? I hear he is pretty good looking.”

“Maybe Cheri I will, but I want to see what the competition is like first you know. It won’t do me any good if I put all my eggs in one basket, especially as Hailey Meredith is in the crowd and looks ready to bid when ever I do. You now how she is towards me, always trying to out do me over everything.” Raven giggled as Bachelor number two was snapped up by a grandmotherly type woman. He was adorable; the dog was cute as well, a small toy terrier puppy with colors of browns and greys.

“It is your call Honey. But I think you should definitely bid on the new guy in town. He is dreamy according to my sister.” Jenna smiled her secret smile and went back to watching the auction.

Looking up as Bachelor three was announced; she began to fidget and made a show over looking at her program. She began to ponder what was so special about this Bachelor; Jenna was all but throwing him at her.

Soon it was the man of the hour. It seemed the energy in the room went up one hundred fold. The women looked as if they were eagerly awaiting a rock star. Raven saw out of the corner of her eye, Jenna smiling at Marc craftily, she could have sworn they were up to something but what was beyond her grasp at the moment. Raven turned her full attention to the stage where the most magnificent man walked amid the catcalls and cheers, so supremely handsome, it took her breath away.

That chiseled face and eyes…the rock hard body in a tux tailored to look as if it were made just for him…the way he walked made him look like sex on legs, all hot and molten. God when he turned around, the room went in a tizzy with screams. Man did he have a nice, tight ass.

Raven almost came right then and there when she thought about how her hands would feel holding onto those cheeks. It was a perfect ass in her opinion to grab onto, wrap her legs around, and never let go of.

The bidding started with a furious passion and soon it was over a thousand dollars.

“Go ahead, honey, bid on the man!” Jenna encouraged as she practically climbed out of her own seat with excitement. “The dog is so cute, with its scrunched up face. The colors are amazing on the Boxer; I know how you like that breed.”

Raven blinked. It seemed as if he looked right at her from the end of the runway. Gulping quickly, she raised her paddle up to bid twelve hundred dollars on him.

Before she knew it, she was in a bidding war with Hailey Meredith.

“Two thousand.” Raven called out.

The crowed roared as each bid went up even more!

“Two thousand five hundred!” Hailey’s voice called out.

Raven gulped and bid her last amount she knew she could afford and prayed as hard as she could, never taking her eyes of this man. “Three thousand dollars!”

The crowd groaned as no one bid again. As the gavel went down once…twice…three times, Raven almost fell off her chair in shock. The gavel rang down as sold…to her! Stunned disbelief raced across her face as Jean-Claude came down the stairs, with Jeb. He looked right at her and smiled that slow, sexy grin all too familiar yet he was still a stranger.  Her thighs clenched together, she wanted to come right then and there. OH MY GOD!!! I just won that sex god! Raven thought just before Jean-Claude walked up to her.

Flash Friday: “Stars”

“Stars”

She lay staring at the stars, and tried not to think, or to feel time slipping away from her.  The cool light above her seeped into her soul, as comforting as the warm flesh that pressed against her side.  Cyra sighed.  Jacal’s warmth might as well be as far away as the light of those stars.  By the morrow’s light, he’d be gone again, and she would go back to the hunt, conscious of the danger he faced and unable to halt it.

For now, he was here, and she refused to dwell on their inevitable separation.  Instead, she fixed her eyes on the stars and recalled the tales she remembered.  The Cynlasch, the Warrior-Poets, told of how the Ri crossed the void from the stars, in some ancient day, to this gold-green world at the edge of all the stars.  Since she first heard the tale as a small child at mimari’s knee, Cyra always wondered where among the stars the Ri came from.  Which light was theirs?  The Heaven Star that bathed the world in pale blue light by day?  Or that flickering red one that seemed to rest on the tree tops?  Or was it only a story, only a myth?  Cyra couldn’t even remember the Ri, so long ago had the ancient people disappeared.  Only the Cynri, the Warrior-caste, remained.  No one ventured into the shadowlands beyond the Fyrpadach - the Fire Maidens – since the Ri vanished.  To do so was strictly forbidden.  Yet Cyra wondered about the Ri often, as she watched the stars.

            The stars…

“Jacal?”  She murmured her lover’s name into the night above, not wishing to disturb him if he was asleep.

            “Hmm?”

“Do you think it’s true, what the Cynlasch say?  That the Ri came from the stars?”

She heard his sigh, as he shifted to look at her. “I don’t know.  I was just a boy when we crossed the Fyrpadach.  No one but the Cynlasch have ever spoken of the origin of our people.”

“Not my people.”  Cyra’s eyes turned away as familiar pain burned through her chest.  Being an oddity was familiar to her.  It was hard not to grow used to being viewed as a strange creature, only half-blooded, and never fully accepted.  “I am Cynri.  I never knew the Ri.”

His arms closed around her, drawing her snugly against the warmth of his chest, where she could hear the steady, comforting beat of his heart.  “You are as much Ri as you are anything else.  The Cynri are Ri.  We are all that is left.”

She raised her eyes to face, made out the shape of his smile in the near-dark.  She knew the reason for the tender curve to his lips.  It was the same reason so many others sneered at her.  Her eyes.  Jacal often whispered that he loved the color of her eyes, so rare among their people.  Green.  Not just any green, but the deep, forest hue known only among the purest mixes of Cynri and Krylish blood.  His own dark eyes, so typical to the Cynri, to the Ri, softened as he leaned to murmur,  ”I’ll miss you, Cyra.”

Her eyes closed and again she was aware of the dull ache in her chest, even as she fought the urge to wrap her arms around him and hold him here, beside her, forever.  But she would not.  Could not.  He would leave in the morning for Spirits alone knew where, and she would watch him leave without a tear in her eyes.  It was the way of things.  The hazard of loving a Cynrathach - a Warrior’s Saviour - in a time of such illness and evil.  There were so few Cynrathach, and so many ill to care for and cure.

“Be careful, Jacal,” she murmured, unable to help the fear in her voice, as she pressed closer to him.  Her lips traced the smooth warmth of his chest before she sighed.  ”I wish I could go with you.”

His hands smoothed her back, cupped her body against his until she could feel the hard heat of his body pressing intimately against hers.  He nipped her neck lightly, then whispered against her ear.  “You are Clymra’s head Hunter.  They need you.”

“They need you, too.”   She pulled back to fix a defiant glare on him.

“Aye, but others need me more, right now.”  He sighed at the mutiny she could not hide in her eyes.  He rolled then, taking her with him as he lay on his back.  His hands stroked her hips, and he shifted her body against him, gently entering her.   The fierce, loving light in his eyes took her breath away even as his husky murmur caressed her through the night air.  ” Cyra, we are never far apart.”

Her eyes felt weighted, her body alive with need as she slowly shifted above him.  It was difficult to think.  Especially when his fingers brushed her breasts, her belly, heading lower toward where they were joined.  But she had to make her argument.  She had to get him to see…  “Your work is too dangerous, Jacal.  What if your spirit cannot return to your body?”

She heard his husky laugh.  “Have a little more faith in me than that!”

She could only answer with a moan as his fingers found her.  Her head tipped back and she stared at the stars as he took her beyond them, the evergreen scent of him enveloping her senses.  Morning’s light would come soon enough.  She would not waste these precious night hours by borrowing trouble.

Reviews for Red Hot Magic:

Ms. Raine Delight has written a very erotic, fast-paced story which will make your heart beat rapidly! Her storytelling techniques are effective and interesting without being too invasive. She paints a graphic picture of the dream-like situation of their very real feeling love scenes. This short story is captivating; I definitely could not wait to turn to the next page. Red Hot Magic is a perfect little story to leave a smile on your face!

This is a hot little story that will get the pulse thumping and the heart pounding. Raine Delight takes her readers on a magical adventure to a place where magic happens often. The characters are alive and vibrant, the plot is interesting and the sex is hotter than hot! Jean-Claude introduces Raven to a little BDSM. I enjoyed this story very much and was able to read it in a short time. It’s a very entertaining evening quickie and the reader should have something cold near by. It would have been great if it was a bit longer. I hope to visit Devon Falls again in the near future and I wouldn’t mind meeting a Jean-Claude myself. Even if it would only be in my dreams.

Review for Fiery Magic:

A heat wave has hit Devon Falls and it isn’t all about the weather, Damien and Alicia are one hot couple. This is a story that is very much about taking responsibility for our lives, and the power of forgiveness. The characters have both suffered for things that were and were not within their control and the emotions the author wrings from her characters make this story very poignant. Raine Delight’s Devon Falls is a magical place I look forward to visiting again soon.
