What’s new…

Thursday, December 6th, 2007

While I’ve always encouraged people to talk freely with me, here, I thought maybe I should make my encouragement a little more obvious ;)

I may not be the light, airy, fun type (shocked looks all around, I’m sure…;)…), but that’s because my personality is much more deeply hidden and my humor more biting and sarcastic than light and airy (sorry, but I don’t do “ditz” or “glitz”).

Take, for example, my most recent creations… I’m embarking on a new path in my writing career.  While I’ll still be writing SF a great deal, you’ll start to notice a more paranormal, mythic, and dark bend to my work.  Why?  I’ve simply decided not to stifle my inner muse (really, she’s getting quite hacked off at being ignored for the industry standard of salable *VEG*).

So be prepared, all ye who enter here, to enter a darker world, where passion runs wild, murder and mayhem abound, and magic, myth, and mystery are the current that runs through everything.  Does this mean no more HEA?  Nope.  Not a bit.  It actually means MORE HEA… Why? Because now my heroes and heroines actually have to WORK for that HEA.  I’m making the challenges tougher, the obstacles higher, and the rewards greater.

Remembering the fallen…

I know, everyone thinks I’m going to talk about 9/11 and the twin towers.  Truth is, I’m not.  We all know what happened, and it was a terrible, horrible thing.  But now is the time to heal, not mourn.

We’ve been given a rare opportunity to honor everyone who’s ever sacrificed themselves for another, or been victim to another’s evil intent.  We’ve been given a chance to unmake the evil.  While this can’t return those we’ve lost, it can remake the energy of the world.

Yes, I believe in the flux of energy that surrounds and fills the world.  I believe that our actions effect this energy, for good or bad.  9/11 caused a negative energy that has surrounded this world, and threaded through all of our lives, for the six years since that terrible morning.  Well, today, we can change that.

Today is not just 9/11…. Today is the EXACT day of the week that 9/11 happened on.  So let’s remake it with a little love… do something kind for someone else.  And, through our actions today, we can remake the world evil destroyed six years ago.

Here’s hoping…

Here’s hoping someone actually READS these things…lol

;) Sometimes, I feel like I’m talking to myself, which isn’t exactly anything new.  Yeah, I talk to myself… :) These things happen when you’re neck-deep in a plot, and nothing seems to be working… You have long conversations with your outline, book, characters, whatever, starting by wondering aloud what went wrong, progressing to begging for it to sort itself out, and finally, threatening dire consequences to the character who’s just f***ing everything up for everyone else!  *grins* Or maybe that’s just how I handle it, and everyone else is normal… *shrugs* All I know is, most of the time, it WORKS!

Take my most recent novel-in-progress (I won’t call it work… it’s too much fun!)… In it, I’m working with a cyber-punk Virtual Crimes Investigator… Problem is, she’s just co-operating with the plot.  (Enter Esther muttering “Go THERE, dammit.  No… THERE!” as Calli wanders all over the ether realm of Virtual Reality)  See what I mean?  I’ve already started muttering.  And muttering quickly descends into “PLEEASE do what I say…” and from there into “Dammit, follow the rules or I turn you into the next victim and find another heroine.”  *lol* Brutal, I know, but it usually works.  Well, except in cases like Calli’s, where she just ignores me, anyway… *sighs* Occasionally, these characters just have too much stubborn will of their own to listen to me…

Anyway, back to the writing, and let’s hope I actually convince her to play along…:)
